steering

I got a 94 bronco full size with the 5.0 and ever since I had it. It always had like a sloppy front end. I notice that if I'm on the high way or anywhere and its straight and I let go of the wheel or even just try holding the wheel straight it wants to go to the left or the right and it seems like theres play in the steering wheel. I can move the steering wheel like 3 inch in both direction before it feels like its moving the wheels. I notice if I'm driving on a straight road I have to hold the wheel to a side so it doesn't wonder off into a different lane. Whats wrong with it? Is it a steering shaft or tie rods or does it need a alignment.

I am sure a search will give you the directions on how to check your front end components! But since you already posted you need to jack up on wheel and grab it at 9 and 3 oclock and shake it and have someone watch the ends under neath and see which one move excessively, then grab at 12 and 6 and see what moves with that. And no road is perfectly straight and flat the road has to have a crown or else the water would stand and you would die!!! what size tires are you running and at what pressure? Do you have a lift kit or body lift? Putting your truck info in your signature so we will know what you got will help in the future!!!
