i am in the proscess of buying a 2000 f-150 and the tires will need to be replaced what is the biggest tire i can put under it without modification? i currently have a 1996 f-150 and the bigest tire i can fit is a 31-11.50-15.the 2000 is stock and has a set of 255 70 16 on now and they look small on it it is also a 4x4 ext cab short bed with a 5.4l and a automatic. i dont want to modify it yet just want bigger tires. thanks
welll i think that 33 x 12.5 i beleive is the same as a 305 my 285 70 17 are just about 33 x 10.5....i think i could be wrong but when i got my tires i looked at all this and this is what im remembering....im about 85 percent sure of this
You can go with 285/70/17 which are 32.71/11.22's some people have fit 295's on which are 11.61" wide and others have had them rub. 285's also fit in the spare tire area so they are a good size to go with.
I'd also suggest 285's. You shouldn't have any problems with regular street, performance, or a/t tires. Muds you may want to be careful due to a more agressive tread which may cause rubbing in some areas. Gl!
