I am a little confused as to what you have but if it is a standard ford setup then the grounding is extremely important as I said earlier. There is caution statements on a lot of the VR's. If you plug them in before bolting them down they will destruct because they get a ground through the case. If that VR bolts to the fenderwell and the fenderwell has a poor ground it can destruct the VR as well.
Well....it's time to have a good laugh at a stupid AUZZIE!!!
Truck is fixed....after re-terminating and changing the regulator...I was confused....I triple checked everything and still was getting 16-18 Volts....So I decided I will part with $170 (AUD) to rebuild the alternator! Before removing I thought I would check my other two cars to compare voltage ( 1980 Honda Civic and 2002 AU FALCON UTE ).....on placing the multimeter on the battery of the civic while running it read 17-19 volts.....I then check my Ute running and suprise, suprise it also read 17-19 Volts.
So all along my multimeter was stuffed.....lucky I didnt go blow another $170 on something not broken!!!
Dame stupid AUZZIES!!!
Anyway thanks for all your help during my believed problem...thankfully there was nothing wrong with it!!!
