no fire please help
i have a 92 f 150 with 300 6cylinder 5 speed 2wd we were going down the road and it just died. so i replaced the coil then the cap and rotor then the most expensive thing and my last resort the ignition control module still will not start and no fire please help
Make sure there is 12 volts at the coil when the ignition is on.
If ok, take the distributor cap off and crank the engine. See if the rotor is turning.
If both check out, I'd say replace the Stator. Some people also call it the pickup.
Problem is to replace it, the distributor needs to be pulled and the distributor gear and shaft needs to be pressed off. A rebuilt distributor runs around $70.00 exchange which will include a new Stator. Here's a picture of the Stator.

If you pull the distributor, mark the position of the base with a fixed object in the engine compartment. Also mark the rotor position to a fixed object in the engine compartment.
When you reinstall the distributor, line everything backup. When you pull the distributor the oil pump shaft usually turns alittle so when you reinstall the distributor you might have to take a long shaft flat blade screwdriver and turn the oil pump shaft alittle before the distributor shaft will seat and fall into position.
That should get the distributor close enough for the engine to start. If the engine doesn't start, slowly turn the base of the distributor in either direction until the engine runs.
Or you can crank the engine until cylinder one is at TDC on the compression stroke remove the old distributor and install the new one with the rotor pointing under the number one plug wire.
Then use a timing light and set the timing to 10 degress BTDC with the spout plug disconnected. If you don't have a timing light once the engine is running, turn the base of the distributor in either direction until the engine idle is the same as what it originally was then tighten the hold down bolt.
