Wrong forum. This forum is for the FE series engines.

5500rpm shouldn't be a problem if the motor is in good shape. You probably won't see enough power above that to justify shifting any higher. Cam specs would be nice.

Once again, the not so secret "wrong forum police" have struck fear into the hearts of..... Wait a minute. I'm getting carried away here. I'm just going to mind my own business.

Chill, Steve. I'm not "policing" anything. It just makes sense to me that someone who wants info about a 460 motor should ask the question in the forum where guys who know something about that motor hang out. I'm a FE guy, myself, and I suspect that most of us who hang around this forum are, too. Thus, my suggestion to anyone who asks questions about the 429/460 in this forum is that they are in the wrong forum, and should ask their questions in the place where they are likely to get knowledgeable answers.

I misunderstood his question, as I imagine others did. Once he clarified that he was asking about a 390, he got his answer.

I don't think Karlsd was trying to show him any disrespect. He simply let him know he was in the wrong forum. Leave the policing the "wrong forum police" to the moderators. There's a difference between informing someone that they are in the wrong place to get the best answer and playing police.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Apr-02 AT 06:04 PM (EST)]Guys, Guys- EASY! Jeesh. Can't you tell by the way I typed it? I was only making a joke!! Or is that illegal here?
And ratsmoker, karlsd defended himself just fine. I'm sure he can take care of himself. Now let's play nice and not get so excited.
It's bad for the blood pressure. By the way. How long does one have to be coming to this site to have such loyalty shown?
I realize it's kind of tough to tell how somebody means something when it's in type. Trust me. I was taken out of context. This is my favorite website and message board. I'm not trying to make enemies.

Ahhh, my mistake. We're cool. It is difficult to pick up humor in postings.

Next time, though, we'll have to kill ya

(JOKE!)

If you were just kidding Steve I am truly sorry. You were involved in the conversation in the General forum so I thought you were going hunting.

Seems to me that you'll be able to wind a decent 352/360 further than a 428 something about lots less spinning iron!

What are you talking about? Haven't you seen "Gone in Sixty Seconds" where Nicholas cage hits the nitrous at 8,000 rpm with his 428CJ? Just kidding. Another mechanically incorrect movie. He was referring to a 390 in his original post. The 352/360 has weaker rods than the 390 and above engines. You can still get quite a few RPM's out of pretty much any FE motor. You're theory is correct though when you are talking about similarly equipped bottom ends with different strokes.

Now now, John. We're all playing nicely in the sandbox together. Don't go kicking sand around and stirring up trouble....
