Front dfriveshaft problem
This is my first post on this site. I just recently converted my 1990 F250 4x4 TTB to a Dana 60 solid axle. The Dana 60 came out of a 1994 F350.My truck is a regular cab 133 inch wheelbase truck. It has a 7.5l,5speed zf and a Borg warner 13-56 transfercase. After the axle swap, I had to get my front driveshaft shortened due to the Dana 60 pinion being high and further back (inwards). Well, upon installing my front driveshaft,it now rests on the transmission crossmember. I just spent $175.00 on my front shaft, and now it hits the crossmember.
Here are my possible solutions;
1. Change to a Fullsize bronco cv style driveshaft.
2. notch the transmissin bracket.
3.Lower the transmission crossmember.
4.Make a 1/4 steel spacer to go under the trasmission mount.
5. option 2 and 4 together.
Or does anybody make a replacement crossmember. I notice my crossmember is slightly lower on the driveshaft side. Does a Bronco crossmember have more of a notch?
Thanks
Richard Scott
Dont mess with a different driveshaft, you have spent enough already. You can modify the crossmember to work for you.
Welcome to the site.
that is a link to an article that details with the swap and has pictures of how this guy notched his crossmember.
