its kind of a no-brainer, but make sure your tires are in good condition and aired appropriately. Don't forget to check the spare too.

You might want to buy an extra quart or two of oil just to throw in one of the door pockets becuase you'll probably burn some off over the trip, and it will save you the hassle of looking for mobil1 and stuff.

Have fun on your trip and be safe!

Isaac

I wish I were going.

Check your serpentine belt for cracks that are across the whole belt (drive side).
Look between radiator & ac condensor for dirt/blockage/cottonwood crap.
If so blow/flush out.
Air filter being clean.
As stated before TIRES TIRES TIRES. MPGS will vary alot -w- 1 tire down.
Have fun, it's only 3 tanks of fuel to get there at $100/fill-up.
The way there is great. The return .................................back to work sucks.
Good time & don't forget to stop in Ga. for the peach pie.
Rich.

Which route are you taking?
Cheaper gas can be bought in SC, so if you can, hold out until you get there.

Before every long trip I take, I check all of the fluids, belts/hoses, and one thing I bet a lot of perople forget, I check the spare tire. I also carry a small kit of assorted fuses.

Have fun and be safe!

Hang up and drive...

I think your truck is new enough not to worry. QT or 2 of oil. Some basic tools. An 05 should still be under warrenty if anything goes wrong. Roadside assistance call and tow that puppy in.

Just remember to "HANG UP AND DRIVE". Have a safe trip!

Depending on the age of your kids, a few DVD's might come in handy. I'm old school, however; mine either have to read or take in the scenery.

not sure about the gasers but w/ diesel we change the fuel filter ever 15k (or less). just check the tire pressure like everyone said and get in and drive. I've made several long trips (7k miles in 2 weeks on one trip) and the truck has preformed flawlessly every time. the hardest part will be the kids and the wife!

Oil change, tire check and air, air filter change if close, belt, all fluids, brake pads. Even if you are in warranty, a breakdown will ruin your trip. Stay safe.
