What a BUMMER, lost the ability to drive the truck forward yesterday.... I am now having to choose between two routes to go with the transmission repair. 1. The most inexpensive: rebuilt 4R100 to spec use existing Torque Converter $1700.00 Core $500.00 OR 2. Rebuilt 4R100 with aftermarket parts, TUGGER shift kit and a new Torque Converter $2400.00 Core 1500.00.
I am running 35" tires on aluminum rims but I do a lot of towing.
Please give me your opinions I know Ford has chosen to cater to the less hard core truck drivers by using a smooth shift thus wearing the clutch pacs out prematurely. I can't complain I have 96K miles and the engine does not burn oil and still pulls well. Thanks
Thanks Bill, I have put $1000s of bucks in mods to this truck and I have owned it from the day it was delivered.....Sooo I guess i will go with the built transmission. I think I will look for a rebuildable V10 core so I am ready for the next Calamity.
I have been talking with another transmission man who claims a junior shift kit is as good as a tugger shift kit. I believe they are made by the same company.
