'88 F250 - Wiper Problems

Hi!

I'm still having a problem with my truck's wipers whereby after a short
period of time they tend to pause for a few seconds (sometimes longer,
sometimes shorter) and then resume. The particular position they stop
at appears to be totally random. I have intermittent wipers but do not
think the problem is related to this function because this happens even
at high speed which I believe bypasses this circuitry.

Is there an easy way that I can directly connect some jumpers at either
the wiper switch or wiper motor to see which one is causing the
problem? I figured I better double check before I start pulling things
apart. Can anyone tell me what the particular connections are that I
would have to make?

Lastly, when I do determine who is the culprit, can I replace it (i.e.,
the motor or switch) with a used one that did not have the intermittent
option originally?
