Yeah, it's in pretty good shape for how old it is. It has alittle rust around the edges and where some screws went in for the tool box for the bed. The dash has a small crack in it and it needs a new turn signal lamp and front grille. All of the things are minor and can be easily fixed and or customized. For a truck with a good body, running, bedliner and a delta tool box...stereo aint that bad either. I really couldn't ask for anything else. It isn't a F150 HD like I was thinking about buying, but I may not have to spend all that cash for a truck right now. Which would be awesome cause I want another mustang, but couldn't afford a new truck and mustang together.
Speed bug is expensive huh? When I bought my 85GT back when I was 17 it didn't take long for the speed bug to bite and about $15K later I gave up. I sure would like to have another Stang but not in the budget right now especially with a 6 month old daughter and 2 other car payments.
Yeah.....I got the speed bug, but I'm just a racer at heart. I don't care how fast the thing goes, just find me a race track and I'll go as fast as I can hehe. I'm excited to build a 5.0 though, basically because they are a cheaper build and parts are widely available. The 4.6 and 5.4 modular motors are nice and are great for boost, but they are sure expensive motors to get parts for and not as many options as the old 5.0 .
I realize your trying to keep cost down, however, you may need to buy some parts from the conversion kits, like oil pan or headers that are made just for this conversion. So don't throw the baby out with the bath water, remember james duff or advanced adapters in case you need that certain part, thats all I'm saying. Besides, don't be such a cheap skate, you can't take it with you and if you didn't spend on your truck, you would probobly just spend it on beer or Mickey D's or something ha ha. "GOOD LUCK ON YOUR PROJECT" and keep us posted.
Well, all I'm saying is that I'll be on a budget with this build and I wont drop a ton of cash on it if that's what has to be, because that's not what I intended for this truck. If the conversion will cost me more than I want to then I will bag it and go a different route with it. I don't cut corners, but that doesn't mean I can't find good priced stuff to use and use some fabrication if needed to make a nice truck. Most everything I plan to do myself. I'll keep you guys posted. I'm going to start rebuilding it here this month so I will start tearing it down.
