Ticking while braking?
I have noticed for the past few months when i do a sudden stop i here a ticking noise coming from under the hood. when im doing normal braking no noise. What would the ticking be from?

Could be the calipers need some lube on the mounting surfaces! They probably are just heat expansion creaking ticking whatever noise it makes! The rust is probably in there between the caliper mount and caliper moving around, Try spraying out the caliper area with a power washer and see if it cures it for a couple of days, If it does get some high temp grease and take off your tires and lube up the sliding parts!!!!

My truck makes that noise when I apply the brakes hard, it's the abs, there's a valve on the master cylinder that controls the abs. But you may have another issue, the abs poped in my mind first thing when you described how it was acting.
