I have been chasing fuel leak for weeks. Only does it when temps drop outside. Finally found it but why the heck and what the heck to do is the problem. The water drain tube from the fuel filter is dumping fuel out of it. Valve is closed and it seemstight not worn and sloppy. Ive been searching for hour for a thread but no luck. Any ideas? 00 7.3 320,000. Runs good even when leaking. Just smells and is expensive. thanks Rob
The o-rings inside the drain valve are bad . They can be replaced .I am sure someone will be along with a link for ya . I will look and see what I can find.
That's your drain valve O-rings , thanks to ulsd. You can buy your own from Mcmaster-Carr (bag of 25 for 6 or 7 bucks) or pm me and I'll mail you 2. Sorry don't know the part #, maybe someone else does.
I've been looking into it too, have the same problem. From what I found out, you need a #202 VITON - 1/2" od, 1/4" id x 1/8" thick. I'm just looking for somewhere to buy a pair of them here in Canada.
Hey ROB7.3 ! Welcome to fte! You can go to the top right hand corner of the forum screen and click on "forum search", enter something like fuel bowl drain valve leak, fuel separator leak, fuel on top of engine, etc.,etc......(you get the picture). It will show you all posts,(threads),etc. related to what you are searching for. There are quite a lot of them on this forum. It's a very common problem. I would be glad to help you, but I have got to go to bed real soon.
Short version for quick fix: go to the ford dealer.....they will only sell you the valve complete with o-rings( I think around $30 or so), then you can do more searches and only purchase the o-rings to use at a later time. They can be found real cheap as someone mentioned, but "quick fix" would be the dealer thing. You'll only need a small torx bit to remove the 4 screws, (sorry, can't remember the bit size right now)! IT'S A VERY EASY REPAIR TO DO!!
