loud when starting
When starting my truck the other day (2003 F-350 70,000 miles) the starter didnt engage because it was just whining. That only happened once and now when i start the motor it is just really loud and even though it turns over it sometimes doesnt start usually takes a few times to get it running, what do you think? Is it just a bad starter?

I vote starter. The drive gear that engages the flywheel came completely out of my starter when I took it off because a "c" clip had broken off. It was that way for a while and I'm lucky I didn't get stranded. It had your exact symptoms. NAPA has a GREAT reman starter for about $175 that has at least 50% more cranking speed than the stock starter.
