89 ABS system ?

So if I discount the sensor connector on the axle will the rear brake system work just like a normal system but without the benifit of ABS? Not worried about the dash light.

I'm trying to troubleshoot the rear ABS and thinking if I take that out of the system then I should know there is problem with the ABS system or the fluid side.

I'm asking because sometimes the rear brakes will lock.

Thanks for any ideas and thoughts.

Yes, if you disconnect it, it will function like a normal braking system.

However, that's not likely the problem. It's actually a fairly common Ford RABS problem. The fluid gets nasty being in the system so long, and it corrodes the ABS valve and it won't allow the rear shoes to back off.

The valve is expensive, so I wouldn't go that route. The ABS on these trucks is so bad anyway, I would just bypass the ABS valve with a piece of brake line and be done with it.

Great idea!!

I'll look and see how hard that can be. So with the ABS valve bypassed it will be just like an old style 70's or so brake sytem.

That would work, wonder why I didn't see that before.
