C6 keeps kicking down to 2nd

C6 keeps kicking down to 2nd
I have a 1988 F250 with a 460 and a C6. If you give it any little bit of throttle it will kick down to 2nd. The only way I can keep it from kicking down is to use the cruise control. Any idea's what the problem might be?

I'd check and adjust all your linkages, whatever they may be on that truck, specifically the kickdown rod (I think it would be a rod, not a cable), as well as the shift linkage. If that doesn't do it, I'd be looking at the vacuum modulator and your vacuum lines.

Thanks for the advice. I thought it was going to be something more complicated. Started checking everything out and noticed the cable came out of the bracket that holds it done by the throttle body. FIXED!
