Just go to NAPA or any auto parts store and ask for the tool set for "release clips" for AC or fuel line fittings. Mine came in a set of 4 different sizes. They are made of plastic and slip over the fuel line next to the fuel filter. Changing a fuel filter is an easy 10 minute job. Be sure to relieve fuel line pressure first. On my '99 5.4, I start the truck and pull fuse #19 in the power distribution box under the hood. This is the fuel pump circuit. The engine will then die and then I change the filter. Just for kicks, blow thru the new fuel filter before you install it and notice how EASY it is. Then blow thru your old filter after removing it. Now you know why a lot of people spend $1000 getting a new fuel pump installed inside the gas tank because of being overworked because of resistance trying to pump fuel thru a clogged filter. Be sure to change the filter every 15,000 miles like the manual states.
