That _____ _____ _____ ______ ______ stealership! I go in there to replace my PAD Switch and they tried to F____ me! I asked for the switch and he said, "Are you sure that is the problem? Maybe you should bring it in and we can diagnose the problem. No, you can't just bring the switch back if it doesn't fix the problem! That is a life saftey issue, how would you like it....blah...blah...blah [I had to ask....]"
Then I said, "Maybe I will try to diagnose the issue myself. (as I had already soldered a new bulb in) How many/which pins are hot coming into the switch?"
Him, "I can't diagnose problems for you. That is not my business, I sell parts."
Two dealerships later someone would give me the info I was looking for. There is one hot wire (purple w some trace) on the switch.
The moral of the story, WHY SELL PARTS WHEN YOU CAN SELL SERVICE FOR $70/HR!?!

Edit - I forgot how he tried to charge me $90 for the switch when I said, "Everyone on FTE says they got theirs for $60!!!!!!"
Him, "Well, $90 is retail. They are getting a deal." Long LONG pause, "Well, I guess I can do $63..."

 

Heh, most local parts departments at local dealership's ive been to charge MORE than List price. That's why I will only buy from the sponsors here like Direct Ford Parts. They always beat the local dealership price by enough to make waiting a few days for shipping worthwhile.

 

Only $70/hr over there? Heck...one of the local here is at $89/hr.
