At work got an 05 f450 74k died on the interstate at 70 mph and will not restart.
I have a scan tool to monitor engine data and noticed hpop injector control pressure did not move from 0 while cranking and i also noticed oil pressure gauge on dash did not move while cranking any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks Billy
If the oil pressure gauge on dash didn't move then your LPOP may be toast and you wouldn't have any HPOP pressure. It only takes 7.5lbs to move the factory gauge to "normal" range--about halfway. I've never noticed whether my factory gauge will move while cranking though so the LPOP may not be (and probably isn't) your problem. Like Todder said, it's probably your HPOP--a known problem on the 05's. The branch tube connector breaks and you'll lose injector oil pressure--there is a TSB on it.

LPOP--low pressure oil pump--supplies lubrication oil for the motor
HPOP--high pressure oil pump-supplies high pressure oil to the injectors to make them inject fuel into the cylinder under extremely high pressure.
The LPOP supplies oil to the HPOP and everything else in the motor.
thanks for all the help guys. I just talked to guys down at the local ford shop and they are going to take over. do you guys think any damage was done to the motor lossing oil pressure at highway speed?
i would suspect either the LPOP gears, or an oil leak, did you check the oil level, maybe it lost all its oil, and that's why you're not reading any pressure ???
After consulting with the expert, the indash oil pressure gauge will register while cranking. If you have no pressure there then, as LVTitan said you're out of oil, or your LPOP is gone, unless the sending unit just decided to take a dump at that moment.
