Does any one out there know how the clutch fork is supposed to be put back on. I dont think I have it on right because when I press on the clutch pedal it just slam to the floor and does not come back up. I cant figure out how to put the clutch fork to the right postion.
I have a 1983 ford f150 ,but I have a 79 motor that I installed. I think that its a detached bell, It's manual transmission. I was working on it today and I think that I got it on right, but when I push on the clutch something still wasnt right. When I check eveything out I seen that this bolt type thing didn't fit like it should. This was located at the back of the engine block on the left side conected to the arm the pushes the clutch fork. I dont know if this will help out or not.

Reason: type error
So when you installed the trans, you installed it into the bell which, with the clutch and throwout and arm was already on the back of the engine?
If so, it is possible the throwout was knocked off (my Mustang did this) or the arm is knocked off it's pivot.
If the arm is firmly in place, hold on to that thought and check out the external linkage.
The bolt on the left side of the block should have a ball head and is the pivot for the "Z" bar.
You say you were working on it...what were you doing? I hate to keep asking questions, but the more of the story you tell, the better the results. The full story helps the experienced visualize your set up and provide more thoughtful replies, and/or reveals a common or not so common problem that someone may have had.
You are not the first with clutch issues, so take heart, the answer is here, someplace. Now tell us more.
The bolt with the ball head does not fit into my block. I think this maybe cause of the different block years. I had to replace my 83 block with a 79 block, so it seems that the 79 block has a bigger hole. I dont know if I am able to buy that part at the local auto part store or gor to the junk yard. I think once this problem is fix it should work.
