im changin it right now on my 96 f-150 and i cant get the connector from the end of the filter coming from the fuel tank. its one of them quick connects i think.. HELP..
you might even be able to rent it from autozone and then get full money back when you return it(although they are seriously cheap enough to own and worth while to have) ... autozone has some weird borrowing option here... where its basically free if you actually bring the tool back when your done... I just used it for a spindle puller and a slap hammer the other day...
ahh nevermind. i just did it.. i broke the little things that hold the hose on but i bent em back and then drove down the road a few miles.. no leaks.. im good.. :]
Brazzeal, you inspired me. I've had a Motorcraft fuel filter sitting in my garage for several months because I couldn't get the old one off. So I went out and finally had another go at it. Used those little plastic fuel line disconnects. Found that it worked rather well to push the hose onto the filter as far as you can, force the disconnect tool into the hose, then pull on the disconnect tool with all your might. Finally she released and gas went flowing all the way down my arm
Removing the rear one was a little bit tougher for me because of the crossmember being in my way. So I pulled the filter out of the retaining clip with the rear hose still attached and used the same method as the other side.
Finally got the filter off... freakin' FRAM filter!!! The previous owner kept records of EVERYTHING and gave me his folder when I bought the truck. Every oil filter, every spark plug, every accessory, EVERYTHING. Fuel filter was not in any of those papers so I always assumed it was stock. Wish I had known before
