Burning Oil
My question is, and I feel kinda dumb asking, but is there any other cause for burning oil besides just cylinder and piston ring wear? I can smell the burning oil and the old plugs where black so I know it's burning oil. I was just wondering if it could be a sensor, kinda being optimistic hoping it's something like egt or map sensor or something thats just not letting the engine burn right.
Just interested in your opinions.
Thanks
Lucas, and 15W-40 Delvac has slowed oil consumption from 1qt-100mi to 1qt 800-900mi.
I firmly believe Lucas helped my old 7.3 ford make it the last 150K.
The Funny thing was even at a qt per 100 miles I never saw any smoke, Just soot in the tailpipe and on the back bumper where the tailpipe exits.
Try the Lucas.
Good Luck.
Justin
My Plan is to keep this one running as long as I can while I find an engine I can rebuild and drop in at a later date, but rebuild at my leasure.
I bought some lucas but I just did an oil change in it so I need to wait till I burn some oil off or I have to drain some so I can put the Lucas in.
Oh yeah this motor leaks oil too . . . not sure where just yet but I'm investigating.
