rear half shaft removal
I'm hoping that somebody has a good method of prying the half shafts out of the rear diff. of a 2002 Explorer. I can't get enough leverage to release the clips without the ford tool.

Half shafts
Haven't pulled half shafts out of an Explorer but in the past I have used an autobody dent puller, they make 2 sizes.....one small and one large. I've used the large one with a hooked end (I've made the ends before to suit the job) and you grab the shaft by the end, pull the bar tight and give the slider a good "wham" and it'll usually pop the axle out. There might be more graceful ways but try this. Just don't ever pull directly on a u-joint. But I always replace joints anyway when a shaft is out. Cheap insurance.
