Hello From Alaska
I live in North Pole Alaska which is near Fairbanks. A land of extreme cold. I have lived here for more thatn 20 years. I work as an aircraft mechanic (helicopters mainly) and own my own aircraft. I also own a charter boat business in Valdez.
I recently bought a 2006 F250 SD 6.0 Powerstroke crew cab, short bed. I didn't need it but fell in love with it on first sight. It was used with 12k miles. It also had a Boss snow plow on it that was new. I paid $30K for it at the local Chrysler dealer
I don't want the plow and will remove it and sell it. You may think that a plow is a good thing in Alaska but here in the interior we don't really get much snow. Maybe 60" a year. It is not like down in Valdez where we get 400" a year. Any how I have my neighbor play my drive and he only charges $40. I think I will get $4500 for the plow.
I will use the SD to drive back and forth from Valdez. I will probably get a slide in camper for future trips "outside".
The ony modification I plan for now is an upgrade to the sound system. Something with built in nav and what ever is available. I want something kool.
The real reason I bought this truck was because I liked the way it looked.
Look forward to future conversations
Duane

Cool intro! I was born in Anchorage and it's been a few years since I was back. I'm also a pilot and what you face in Alaska is a lot more challenging then what we have here on the plains. Let me guess, you plane is on pontoons, right?
There is a lot of great info on the site that can help you with your SD so be sure and checkout the forums. You can also list your plow in the Alaska forum if you don't have a buyer for it yet: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum152/
Yeah, I have Maule on floats. I am an A&P, IA so I can do my own work. Helps make it affordable.
Thanks for the tip about selling the plow. I will do that.
Duane
