Thanks for all the replies guys! I am still alittle unclear on weather this is a problem or not. The truck goes in for warranty work( coolant smell in cab) this week and I will ask them to check into it. I appreciate everyones input.

If you have the factory Donaldson air intake installed then it is not normal and you should have the tech check the turbo for sticking vanes, or a malfunctioning turbo actuator solenoid.

good thing you mentioned this. my buddies 05' farts with his stock intake. assumed it was normal.
I had the same problem, more noticable when pulling a camper, but it got to the point it would happen when letting off fuel pedal. Ford finally diagnosed as a bad turbo and replaced the EGR at the same time.

Turbo fart= sticking vanes or acuator solenoid malfunction=overboost=lifted heads, bad gaskets=collant smell in cab. Possible scenario?
