I am having A/C problems and I thought maybe you guys could give me adivce on what to check into or what you did to fix a similar problem. My A/C hasn't worked since I got the truck a few weeks ago. When I cut the A/C on, you can hear the engine idle change, but no air comes through the vents. I'm hoping it's only something simple like a switch. Could you guys give me anything to check for to narrow it down. I HAVE to have the A/C ixed by the end of the weekend.
The engine idle changing would indicate that A/C clutch is working properly (added stress from that pulley) so I would assume that your compressor is working too. A simple way to test would be to drive around with the A/C on for while, then get out and put your hand on the compressor, should be cold and wet from condensation.
That being said, it sounds like your blower motor has gone bad. Do the vents blow air when you have it on the other settings (other than A/C or MAX A/C)?
The air doesn't come through the vents on any setting - a/c, max a/c, defrost, etc. I just went for a drive down the road, and I noticed that when I am going 50 mph or so and cut the air on, you can feel a light breeze through the vents.
Jurgen has a good point, check that vacuum line. Although it still sounds to me like your blower motor is not getting power. EDIT: Turn the key to the ON position (not crank position) instead of running the engine, this will make it easier to hear the blower motor. Turn on any fan setting in the cab, then put it on HIGH and pop the hood. Go to the rear passenger side of the engine compartment (where Jurgen's yellow arrow is pointing) and listen for the blower motor spinning with a WHOOSH noise. No noise = no power to the blower.

Let me get one clarification. When you kick the air on, you say the air doesn't come out of the vents. Now, do you mean it's not coming out of the dash ANYWHERE (ie, the defroster vents, the floor vents, the vent vents) or it just isn't coming out the front vents like you want it to?
I mean NO VENTS blow any air - none from the dash, floor, or defroster vents. I am going to check the blower motor tomorrow morning. I'll see if I can hear any noise from it. A friend of mine told me to also check it by disconnecting it and hook it up straight to the battery's positive and negative and see if it turns.

You could try that, but be careful because that wire might not have a fusible link on it after it disconnect it and you could fry the unit.
I switched the ignition on, turned the a/c on, but I could not hear the blower making any noises. When I switched the a/c on, I could hear a click, so I believe the switch is fine, but no noise indicating the blower motor was spinning. I also checked the vacuum lines around it, but all seemed fine.
test light
if it's got power on either side and does not run, it's a bad motor
if it's got power on the 12v side but not the ground, it's a bad motor
if it doesn't have power to either side, it's got a voltage problem, and still may have a bad motor
don't just throw a motor at it without knowing, or you'll have TWO bad motors
My dad just hooked up his volt meter or whatever it is, and he said it is getting power. I also hooked it straight up to the battery, but it still didn't turn. I'm going to the parts store to get a new blower motor now. I'll let you guys know what happens.
