solution to morning smoke thread

i guess i dont understand an exhaust brake then. i still dont see how if its a butterfly that was closed the truck can run to even get up to speed like highway driving. and if she did drive it that far and it got really hot i would think a lot more problems he would have.
but he only mentions morning smoke so maybe its not as bad. and why would one shop say 400 psi across and another say something totally different?
