AutoZone will sell you one and when you bring it back they will give you a full refund.
I didn't use it on a ball joint, but together with an impact wrench, it made short work of u-joints.

That's what I did, made it to easy, $100 on the loan a tool program, they give it back when you do.
I've got to do all the ball joints in two 4x4 F-150's this weekend myself. My ball joint press is a Snap-On and I never tried it without it, don't think I would want to. I'd go with the Auto Zone loaner or get a little cheaper one to keep around, they are handy for u-joints too. One of my friends bought one at Harbor Freight and it is decent enough for no more than he will do with it, you don't even want to know what Snap-On gets for theirs now.
I've had mine for about 20 years now and it has been thru hell so no complaints but if I bought one today when I am on the Snap-on truck it would set me back about 600. I've got their techwrenches, the electronic torque wrenches and love them but I can't bring myself to get the 3/4" drive one, think I'll just keep my click type.
Snap-On dealers usually hold to the prices in the catalog, you can get them to deal if you buy a lot on a regular basis but I wouldn't count on much of a discount.
I did ball joints on my 1995 F150 2WD. I bought Harbor Freight press and got lower joint out easily with it. While working on upper joint the C clamp press broke in half. Metal looked crystalline. My neighbor a Ford worker of 38 years used a large punch and hammer and two wacks and knocked it out. I returned the HB tool for refund; it also doesn't have right collars for install. I've since had to pull pitman arm for a new steering box. I opted to buy a 20 ton hydraulic press for future work.
