Building a bed

Ok so im tirred of driving around with an 87 bed. I've been going to the junkyards 3 times a week around here and cant find a thing. And can imagine paying over $600 for one. so i think imgoing to build a wooden bed on her. does anybody have anygood idead for this. Or talk me out of it. I figure nothing will look worse than the how it does now.

I'm not gonna be much help on the wooden bed thing, but IF you can find a bed that may have the cargo area rusted out, but is reasonably priced - you could always cut the bedsides off of it and throw them on your 80's bed...

Check out the way they do 'ute trays' in OZ, I know that *I'm* filing away a few ideas for upcoming projects

Most of the pix you'll find will be steel and/or aluminum but earlier ones were all wood, and pretty sharp looking IMO.

Your user profile says your truck is a 1999 model???? If so, you are in the wrong place. If not, what year is your truck, is it long or short wheel base? Depending upon a few things, you might be able to make a flareside bed for it reasonably easy. I have a few details of how mine was built in my gallery.
