Diesel Service Tech
So here goes.
Can anyone recommend a good service tech in or near Ft. Wayne, In.? Got what is probably major injector stiction issues again, with this truck. It has happened with previous a 7.3 and a 6.0 all at about 30,000mi. Would prefer that this be corrected under the 36k warranty and so am turning to the experts to assist in getting this evaluated and fixed before another 6k miles. The oil has been Ford Diesel spec'ed and changed every 5000 mi by Ford Dealerships.
The Dealership that I purchased the vehicle from Mark Moats Ford, Defiance OH. It is a good dealership but the service dept lacks understanding and seems to think that anyway the engine operates is "NORMAL" , plus they do not have a certified Diesel Tech since the first vehicles were sent out to another dealership for repair. Would like to be able to deal with someone who knows the engine and understands the associated problem that seems to persist with the PS. Symtoms are miss after about 1-2 miles when cold until it is warmed up. The induction heating flash was completed in early March. Currently cold starts at 70 degrees and will be increasingly problematic as we get into fall and winter and the starting temperatures get lower and lower. Very irritating in my book.

Since I'm nowhere near you I've just been quiet. I suggest you do a member search and see who you can find in your area that may be able to help you out with a trustworthy tech.
Good Luck!
Joe
That's a concern of mine with these motors. They are different, there is a shortage of certified techs, and the motor is obsolete as of this year so the shortage is only going to get worse. Only 5 years of production. Would you put yourself up for certification of an obsolete design? And the 6.4 motor will be even worse because it will be gone in 3-4 years.
Anyway, since you are feeling ignored, here's what I would do. Search inventory of all the Ford dealers in your area as if you were shopping for a new truck. Find out who stocks the most diesel trucks. That's the dealer who takes them seriously and should have the most/best technicians. Some dealerships around me are far from high volume truck dealers while others seem to specialize in trucks over cars. Some are big in F150, but not S.D. Figure out who is who around you.
I hope there is some help in there somewhere, and good luck.
Bill
