My issue is with my '99 f 250 LD 5.4L 4x4 auto. When leaving work in the afternoons I'll start my truck it starts and then drops it's idle immediately to around 200-300 RPM. It doesn't die typically and will often continue to run somewhat rough. Sometimes it will not start until the third try and needs gas pedal assistance to get sathe RPM up. It typically is warm idling 100 RPM lower when warm idling. This is a new problem. My milage is 136,000. I'm hoping thsi isn't some huge issue. 3 mo ago I had two coil overs replaced. With my tune up, motorcraft plugs, PVC valve and Fuel filter too. I added fuel line dryer with yesterdays fill up. I had a Honda Accord do this in the past and that cured the problem.
does it run rough or just idle, if it's rought while just idling, then it's probably the IAC valve which you can get a dealership for about $120 and very ieasily installed. Take it down to AutoZone and get a readout on an OBDII scanner, might be something a little more serious. Get it checked out first and let us know how it went.
It runs smooth. No hesitation on the road. I've called to get it scanned. There's no rhyme or reason as to when it does it. I would say it happens more when the tempature swings are between 20 an 30 degrees between morning and evevning.
