2001 ford escort ac prob.
Ok i know its not a truck but i figure i would try here first before going to another site. its an 01 escort with 100,000 miles and the ac stoped about 8 monthes ago. so i started to look at it and the compressor dosent spin when i put it to ac in the cab. i removed the wire plug on the comp. and got two jumper wires one from - and one from + on the battery. it clicked in so i started it and held the wires on there with the motor runin and the air got cold so everything works its just not getting power. i tested the plug that goes to the compressor and it had no power at all. even with the **** in the dash to ac. there is one red wire and one blue wire, and i have figured out that the red wire has all the time ground (-). so i need to figure out where that blue wire goes and where it is suppost to get its power from, relay, fuse, ect... (the fuse under the dash for the ac is good by the way) any info would be awsome cause i have know idea where to look first. and any pics would be even better. Im kindof new here so i dont know all the lingo and abreveations so if you could explain it to me like im 2 that would be great lol. thanks for any help

I've not run into it personally, but I'm told this is very common on that vintage Escort. There is a controller on the climate control that fails, much like the Constant Control Relay Module on a Taurus. There is a reliable, inexpensive work around for this problem, I believe an external relay is added.
Go to www.autoacforum.com and do a search for "Escort AC" or "Escort compressor". There are many posts dealing with this issue and a gentleman named Nacho developed the work around. It will be very easy to find.

Is there continuity at the clutch cycling switch?
AC fuse at the underhood fusebox?
Relays near the pass firewall area?
i believe the relays are grounded through the ECM and sometimes fails.
Could be a different car on that idea though.

It is entirely possible that there is a problem with the control module, but I would recommend letting somebody put a set of guages on it just to be sure you don't damage something by running too little refrigerant. Since it does cool, I'm guessing that it's fine, but worth checking IMHO.
