Henry Ford Quotes

I ran across these old Henry Ford quotes.( Henry Ford Quotes ) Post which one you like the best. I think if he was still alive Ford would be in a whole different sitiuation.

I think my favorite was

"Chop your own wood, and it will warm you twice."
Henry Ford

You can get it in any color you want, as long as it's black.

The coldest day I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.

He never said that, nor did Samuel (Mark Twain) Clemens.

Ford historians cannot find where he said any color as long as it's black. While true most model T's were black they were painted different colors for 4 years.

It has been my observation that most people get ahead during the time that others waste.

True. Paint in those days was not the paint of today. It was difficult to mix, and mfgr. During the days of high production, Ford used basic black for this reason plus the fact that the black dried much quicker than the other paints which took much longer due to the mix. jd

Another of Henry's "better ideas" was the commercial introduction of charcoal. Thank Henry at your next cook out. jd

Jimdandy, I read that the black was made by mixing black soot with shellac! It was brushed on, dried and hand rubbed with pumice. That 5 bucks was well earned!

I don't know about that, but Ole Henry had tons of scrap lumber left over from building his T's, A's, and B's, so he turned it into charcoal.

Yeah, and another oddity is the inventor of chewing gum: Santa Ana, the hennie ral himself. jd

Our construction equipment is all the same colour. My lawn mower only came in one colour. The first vehicle manufacturers probably didn't occur to them to offer their products in different colours until they noticed consumers doing it.

Yup. And you can still buy it. It's KingsFORD brand charcoal. (Ford might not still own that company. I don't know, but they did start it.)

Now that you mention it, I kinda wondered myself, so I checked their website. It is owned by The Clorox Company. jd

It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.

Boy, he would flip at the mess we have now!
