Yesterday was several lbs of "Made in the shade" marinated charcoal steaks served to the family and inlaws. It was delicious, and overall I think I behaved myself but still ate a lot. I could have sat there and ate my way to death, everything was delicious. Cheese Hashbrowns, buttered corn, some kind of bean and meat delicious mix.. I don't even know.. some kind of heaven.. salad, cake, cookies, etc..

SO Saturday afternoon I brought home a bag of burgers from Braums-- 5 burgers $5.75-- they were awful-- Stale buns and no flavorful meat-- just kinda blah-- SO for Lunch Sunday I wrangled some good quality beef-- grass feed-- and wow what a difference-- The burgers tasted like steak-- I fried onions in the little bit of grease left in the pan-- No need for anything else- no mustard ketchup of anything-- just really really good burgers. I found a meat store up by McPhereson that is supposed to have very high quality-- and it sells elk- and deer as well-- I might have to make a stop next time I am through.

Nothing to report for good eats, other than the wife and I have eaten at McAllister's and Carlos OKelly's over the past week, and both did a fairly nice job of setting up a decent Social Distancing effort.
Sad to hear several of the restaurants are not going to survive this, for example we lost Nelson's Landing in Leonardville, Denny's, Bluestem Bistro, and a few others here in town. It's hard enough for a restaurant to make a living the way it is, then this..

I was sorry to hear Nelson's Landing was closing, but I can understand with the amount of work it takes to operate one. My guess is Mrs. Nelson wanted to spend more time with grandkids and family. I don't blame her.
I hadn't been to Bluestem in a long time, but hate to see them close. Denny's was on its last legs before the virus hit. I went to it occasionally with the guy I help from Big Lakes and there were very few people in there at lunch and I rarely saw many cars there in the evening.

I threw a pork butt on the Traeger around 2pm and smoked it for a couple of hours and then turned up the heat. Prior to going on the smoker it got a good rub. Man was it good at supper time. We'll need to freeze some of it because there is way more than the two of us can eat in the next couple of days.
