what modifications?

Hey, Ive got an 89 F250 with a 302, My Engine is in need of a rebuild and i would like to give it a little more pep then stock... What modifications can i do and still be able to pass emissions testing?
What benefits do I get from an aftermarket cam, roller rockers, etc.?
Any information helps a lot Thanks for any input!

The mods you listed are all within the scope of adjustment for the stock computer and you can add a full exhaust system to the list as well. If more midrange HP is what you are after then go ahead and upgrade the 302, a cam and exhaust will wake the little sucker up!!. But if you want more low rpm torque then quit while you are ahead and just replace it with a 351 or 460. The big block is a bigger project because the tranny will need to go as well, but a 351 will bolt right in and only require a computer change to run. A complete donor motor makes it a relatively easy swap where you don't have to worry about what parts can be interchanged, and there are quite a few. I swapped out the 302 in my F150 for a 351 and have not regretted it for a second.. it's a WAY better truck motor.
