I have 5 brothers and we have not all been together in over 10 years. We are scattered....both in location and in the brain department......Anyway, We are all planning to be part of whatever we decide to do.
Any ideas on what to do for this special occasion?
Here's a few things the whole family can enjoy together...
Strip club, bungee jumping, white water rafting, just hit all the bars, mountain biking, water skiing, go to an amusement park with a lot of roller coasters, go to a hard rock concert and start a mosh pit, rock climbing, or you could do like my family and just stay home, get drunk, and start a fight...
My FIL turned 80 this past August. We weren't able to attend (800 miles away), but the family put together a DVD of various family photos through the years. It was set to music and they played it throughout his party. He LOVED it! They also had a huge sheet cake with a big "80" on it.
Many of his family, friends and former co-workers were able to attend. There was plenty of food and fun. He had a great time. He didn't want any gifts so no one brought any.

I think you've already got it. If y'all haven't been together for 10 years, perhaps you could all show up at Mom's house on that magical day. At the same time. Without warning.
Dad will be 80 in mud-October and I was kind of wondering what to do for him. He doesn't need anything - and gets mad when you get him anything he doesn't need.
I guess we'll try to get all the kids in the same place at the same time, maybe take him to dinner. We took them to dinner last month for their 60th anniversary - they enjoyed that.
As I have found for folks of the depression era, simple works great.
