Speed sensor location
I have a 2000 F150. The ABS light has been on for years. Lately, the speedometer is going crazy! (100 MPH when sitting still) Sometimes it tracks my speed, but others it goes crazy. Thought this might be a speed sensor. Went to Auto Zone and got part. Guy told me location of sensor is on top of rearend (pumpkinball) of truck. I pull part out and find it is a short "L" shaped part. So I take part back with me to AZ. Different guy tells me that the "L" shaped part is an ABS sensor that goes into the rear differential. He says the part in my hand, which is longer with what appears to be a double plug in is supposed to mount into the transmission. I come home, trace all the wires around the transmission that I can find and I do not see this part anywhere, can someone help me please ?

Never allow the monkeys at AutoZone to try to diagnose anything.
Need to know if you have 4X4/4X2 and if you have an automatic or manual transmission.
Certain combinations use different sensors for VSS data. Some use the rear ABS sensor, others use the OSS sensor on the tranny.
