Hello all and welcome to my first post and probably not my last . Ihave been sittig back watching and reading for awhile and you guys know your stuff. Heres on for you to explain. Problem or not?? On my 06PSD I leave for work at 5am and its dark so I turn on my headlamps and pull out of the drive, about 300 yards down the road my headlamps get much brighter and stay that way untill I turn them off , almost as if a daytime headlamp realizes its dark and gets brighter,But I dont have daytime headlamp option. I do have due batteries and duel alternators could that have something to do with this condition? Anything to worry about ? I bought the truck with 20'000 miles on and aready had to replace the power steering pump and the rear main seal/gasket leaked not to mention the crank sensor . Dont get me wrong I bleed little blue ovals thats all I ever owned with every one I ever owned were practically problem free 86 Ranger (used) 78 mustang II rebuild street/strip 94 Ranger (new) 01 F150 super crew (new) and now this 06PSD super Duty Crew cab Thanks for all of your time and knowledge, Denny
It's possible that when your glowplugs are on they are drawing enough current to dim your headlights and when the glowplugs automatically shut off your headlights get more power.
Mine does the same thing at start up..that's what i chalked it up to was the glow plugs going thru cycle. It's not long after start up..just a few secs.
