the "301" was used in fords f600 and other 5 ton trucks. its basically the same as a 300 only its even tougher! they also made 331. these engines were just built tougher due to the extra weight, etc that they would have to pull. Finding one? very hard. im keeping my eyes open myself! hope this helps

Although I've never heard of the 301, the expanation above does make sense given Ford's habit of building heavy duty engines and designating them 1ci larger or smaller than their regular duty sibling of the same displacement.

They made a HD version of the 300 which had a forged steel crankshaft. Mainly big trucks but I think was avail in light trucks for a few years.

I wonder if you can bore the 300 block that much or maybe it is a stroker? Either way, sounds like fun.
I think International once made a 400 cid inline six gasser!!!!!!!

no 331 was a V8 motor not an I6. i think they made a 391 too (see the patern?)
but a 300 I6 stroker!! that would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

IHC made a few over 400 ci. The largest was the 501 and there's one sitting between the framerails of my old 4x4. 430 ft-lbs of torque at 1100 rpm.
