here is a cool link with animation for all you wondering the difference between grills for 67-72. it can be tough telling them all apart and feels good to know the exact year when you see one.......... http://f100.jjmoss.net/links.html
this is the only way i know how to tell them apart if anybody else knows other distinct features through the years please do tell...
The '69 has a groove stamped in the center horizontal bar (which was painted red on the Ranger models) while the '68 has a smooth, sort of V-shaped center bar. You have to get fairly close to be able to spot the difference, it's pretty subtle.
darn. i want to be one of those people who really knows his s**t when it comes to classic vehicles. my friend can say oh hey look thats a 1963 bla bla, and it probly has a such and such motor in it, i'm like how the hell?
My dad is one of those who can identify any American car built from the early '30's to the mid '60s just by some little feature like the tail lights or grille. He's had so many cars over the years even he can't keep track anymore.
One of his best friends in grammar school was a guy named Tad Burness who has been doing drawings of cars since he was a kid. He's published a number of car spotter's guides and had his Auto Album published in newspapers across the country since 1966. You might want to pick up a couple of his car spotter's guides which show all the little differences in models over the years.
