Need Guidance!

I have recently done the 6637, HPX, CCV, Overboost Annihilator, 5" straight pipe, and DP-Tuner, guages and BTS VB will be in next weekend. I know I should have waited to do the tuner til after the guages and VB were in, but I just couldn't let the tuner sit there in its box, it looked so lonely. Anyways, I am going to order the Wicked Wheel and I want to know if I should order the turbo re-install kit at the same time? Also what else should I do for some lower cost mods,$300 or less?

Joe, you have been a busy fella except updating your profile so we have no idea what truck you have. You may not even need a wicked wheel if you have the early 99 truck. What truck are we talking about?

Sorry about that. I have a 2003 F-250 CC 4x4 SRW with 87k Miles. I really like the DP-Tuner, and will feel better about my lead foot once the VB is in. Is a tranny cooler necessary, I do tow sometimes, but it is usually less than 10k pounds. I really just want more power, but I don't really want to get into any high ticket items just yet. Any advice will be helpful and I will get right on the profile.

I was looking on eBay last night, and found that you can get a larger intercooler and tranny cooler from a 6.0 for about or less than $200 each, brand new. Used units will obviously be less. With the way your building up mods, both would be really good "cooling" insurance for your engine.

I am an idiot, I forgot to add that it is a 7.3 liter. I really need to post more so i can also edit my signature. Sorry I didn't clarify the engine type in the earlier post. I am curious to know if the tranny cooler would be a good idea though.

Pete - What are you typing in for keywords? All I ever find is some takeoff for a Banks kit or something for $150 + $150 S&H

No you're not. This is the 7.3 forum. The 6.0 coolers are better units than what came for ours. Some have had less than stellar results on the 6.0 IC but it didn't hurt them. They go in with relatively little pain from what I hear.

As for the WW, it will definately reduce your surge if you tow or really like to get on it under load. Some low end spool lag but otherwise OK. Should be able to R&R without a kit if you do the in vehicle method.

Sorry F250 i just realized what your post said. I jumped to the conclusion you though I had a 6.o liter, and didin't notice you said to use the intercooler FROM a 6.0. Thanks for the advice, I will get them ordered tonight.

Ok, i will do the WW, and the 6.0 tranny cooler. I will probably do the AIH delete for good measure. What else might I consider? I have thought about Meth/ Water injection, any thoughts on that?

I only have a familiarity of Meth/ Water injection so I will leave that to someone with first hand knowledge.

At this point it would be helpful to know what you intend to use the truck for IOT gauge mods to get there. The 6.0 tranny cooler is an improvement but not a necessity in all cases.

I use the truck for some medium duty towing, and by medium I mean the weight will rarely get above 10,000 pounds. The rest of the time i am just driving around town for work, and the occasional 800 mile road trip. Basically just like to have good, smokey, fun. Also would like to know if it would be better to unhook the wastegate or get the "high performance" one on some of the sponsor sites. Thanks

Thanks for the input. I am going to wait on some of the bigger, more expensive mods like big oil. Right now just looking to do the $400 or less mods. I would like to know if it is better to just disconnect the wastegate, or buy the "High" performance one, which says it lets you boost to higher levels?

Your stock turbo is only efficent to about 25-26 lbs of boost. A bigger wastegate isnt going to help much in my opinion. Just my thoughts tho My turbo hits 28lbs stock turbo and wastegate
