I am going to change my fuel filter...the instructions say to disconnect the fuel pump relay and then crank the engine to relieve fuel pressure. Any ideas which connection is for the fuel pump relay on a 91 E150 5L? Thanks!
mhg thanks, truck runs good, been told thats normal to lose pressure, its 89 had it lot years, had press reg, replaced 5 or more years ago when it failed, ever since day one can here relay, pump pressure up when first turn key, seems to work great. would be interesting to know if this is way its suposed to work.
No real need to relieve the pressure. Sure it would be nice, but in the time it takes to find the fuse, pull it and crank the engine, I could have changed the filter.
When you first pop the line off, it will vent a little fuel. I use a drain pan to catch the spilled fuel and drop the old filter into so it doesn't leak fuel everywhere.
cleeE150, the pressure will leak down pretty quickly. The pump isn't very good at holding pressure any length of time. Oh, and are you familiar with the term; "complete sentances"?
