Hey all. I was searching around wanting to make my truck brake a little better. I am sure we all like that. We had a customer come in with thes on his truck. http://www.ssbrakes.com/brakeproduct...kes/truckstop/
I just wanted to share this with everyone else. He loves them and said his truck stops better than before.
Cheers,
Shawn
I'd have to dig out the mag, but I think those are the ones profiled in an issue of Ford Performance Truck magazine, in an article on beefing up the brakes on a diesel.
If they are, then the article agrees with your customer, in that the upgraded brakes work very well, and are a huge improvement over the OEM brakes.
the thing is that it uses stock rotors. which everyone agrees that our trucks dont last on. also a big brake kit would be nice too. i aslo did not see anything for the rear brakes. i had a baer brake kit on my 03 grand prix gtp. the first time i stomped on the brake pedal, i felt like i was going to hit my head on the windshield.
True it is a bit expensive. The thing is not everyone gets larger wheels and tires and this is an option. Without the bigger wheels, you can't get a big brake kit.
Now even though it is the stock size you have more pistons, which spreads out the friction load as it can be called. Because of spreading out this load you get better clamping power, which equals better stopping.
Baer! MMMMMMMMMM, now we are talking! Got to get bigger wheels though.
Cheers,
Shawn
will make it brake a LOT better. Everytime I towed and had to jump on the binders because of idiots I had to turn my front rotors. I installed Powerslot Cryo Rotors on the front and Hawk LTS pads on the front and rear. I experienced a significant improvement in braking and have had two idiot stops while towing since with no warpped front rotors or insurance claims. Cost me between $300 to $400 for the rotors and pads but well worth it. FWIW!
Ditto on the PowerSlot Cryo Rotors and premium pads. They are the best rotors, worth the money. Now I am looking to put disk on the rear. I do lot of towing, 16' dual axle enclosed motorscooter trailer. Anyone know what year the E150's started getting rear disk? 2003 maybe? I am guesing whenever they started putting 16" wheels on them?
I Also Installed Power Slot Cryo Rotors And Hawk Pads In The Front Of My Ex, The Rear Are Still Factory Rotors. Made A Huge Difference In Stopping. My Old Front Rotors Were Warped And Rattled The Front Of The Truck Every Time I Touched The Brakes.
