My carb has nothing like this for my 400.. AT, C6.
I do have this blue bar that looks like a throttle cable that come up from underneath the truck, it has never been hooked up and I assumed it was an old throttle linkage that was unhooked (found a couple of things like this on my truck, old fuel line, some coolant lines.. just hanging ready to be pulled out)
is that my throttle kickdown linkage? what doe sit do anyways and is it something I have to have?
I also don't have any throttle dashpots or solenoids or anything along those lines. Just a throttle cable straight to the carb..
This is truck specific, isn't it? if not, I'm sorry, I woldn't know where to put it.
78 F150, 4x4, C6, 400, non-stock carb (2100 of some old, smog-free design)
Yep, that's it.. I need to buy the piece it attaches too though, hopefully it will fit onto my carb.
Thanks!
Lots of luck, I'm in the process of lining up the parts to mate a running 351M from a manual truck with a C6 so I'm in the same boat
You'll have to strip out the throttle shaft to install that little lever and that's *not* a good idea.
I'm going with a diffferent 2150 from an AT equipped parts truck.
Reman carbs with the correct lever are $$$ and quality is a crapshoot so kitting a semi-correct unit scrounged up locally seemed like the better option to me
I would check the junk yards first, then check with Holley Carbs since their carbs were stock on some of the Ford engines. My case is a 460 with the C6.
I had already been through trying to rebuild 2 carbs that were crap, and rather than take a chance on a remaned one. I went ahead and laid down the bucks for a brand new holley 4412 from summit. It bolted right on and had the kickdown linkage and all already installed, only thing it was missing was the throttle linkage ball to connect the pedal linkage, but I had one already from an old holley I had. It fired right up and has run great. I wish I would have done it sooner than rebuilding my carb that came on the truck then buying another one and rebuilding it and it not working. It was a bunch of headache!!
When I bought the 79 F250 in my sig it didnt have a kick down rod either. I was supposed to hook it up when I rebuilt the engine but I umm....forgot. The truck has been on the road for a year now with about 2500 miles with no problems with out it. I do notice that it doesnt shift down to 1st unless I completely stop but with the 460 and gears I have I really dont have a problem riding around town in 2nd. It might be an option until you can buy a aftermarket carb with the kick down arm. You also could buy a locar flexable kickdown cable which is what Im going to do when I get off my butt.
