I drilled out my passage from the oil pump to the filter adapter to 7/16 of an inch. Then I had the main passages chamfered to match the main bearing holes. Use a melling M57HV high volume oil pump with an ARP oil pump driveshaft. Restrict the passages to the heads with a 90 holley jet underneath the rockerstand. I run the edelbrock heads which are already restricted so I didn't restrict it anymore. There are other passages some people drill out but this should be more than enough for a pretty stout FE. I run 26psi@700rpm and about 75@4,000.
Red, Check out archive topic #1214 Oil System Modifications FE Top Oilers. There are other comments on this subject also in the archives. I did the 7/16 drill completly through the center gallery. This lined up the gallery that Ford drilled from each end and eliminated the restriction for number 5 main. I drilled the center three main saddles thru the camshaft bore to the center gallery 5/16. The long diagonal and short diagonal were already 7/16. I plan to leave them at that because I have finished the block and don't want to chance screwing it up. Next time I'll clean and magnaflux the block, check taper and do the oil mods before I bore and hone it. On the main bearings, check the alignment as you install the inserts, they may actually line up. If not tip the oil hole in the block or egg the hole in the insert. Your option. Install a flow restricter (holly jets or a chunk of pushrod) drilled to 30-35 in the head oil gallery that feeds the rockers. This will reduce the quantity of oil in the heads. ARP oil pump drive and a Melling HV pump and your in business.

Made the same changes suggested by ratsmoker and also
went to a 361 pan about 9 quarts with a
rear sump pickup. had to have my block drilled to
bolt down the pickup, but for the price about $ 200
bucks, you get a lot more oil.. also had a baffle
added..
