I would tend to agree with some of the folks on here as you really need to decide for yourself what you want in the end.
Restore - An all original numbers matching truck that may be somewhat uncomfortable to drive for extended periods of time but very good for show and short trips around town.
Resto-mod - Looks original until you dig deep to find the drum brakes replaces with power disc breaks, power steering and maybe some suspension and transmission swap.
Custom - Same as above, plus power windows, bucket seats, lowered, polished rims and mags, Increased power plant, auto transmission, the sky is the limit.
Rat-rod - Some folks one here may tell you that those of us on the DARK SIDE have rat-rods (see my sig below) some purists will surely comment that putting a Chevy in a Ford is taboo but I say dare to be different and be your own fearless leader. If nothing else this mish-mash sure makes things interesting to say the least.
To quote ssj7kids - Is it all in the eyes of the beholder?
I drove my 48 to a show in the rain yesterday and they put me into a class called "Street Rod Trucks" whatever that means. It is definitely modified with Volare suspension, Chevy engine and transmission, disc brakes, power steering, tilt column, Ranger seat, one piece side glass, and a shortened F-3 with 51/52 F-1 bed installed to boot.
I even won a 3rd place trophy but I refuse to say how many trucks were in my class...
