I have a 2005 F250 powerstroke with 37700 miles. While driving about 40 mph, my truck lost acceleration. I noticed in the dash lights that the wrench and engine pictures were showing. I coasted to a stop, and currently have no throttle response or acceleration. Engine runs fine. Transmission shifts through all gears- but throttle has no response. Please advise- could it be a sensor somewhere? I looked all around for loose cables, etc- but I didn't see anything amiss. The truck was towed to a closed for the weekend Ford Dealership- and am lost until Monday. Thanks in advance for any information.
I just went through the bible and I'm not sure if there is even a manual way.. I'm pretty sure it's Throttle by Wire.. Bible contains no information on how the throttle is handled..
I dont have any pictures.. But basically it's a sensor attached to the side of the pedal.. I went and looked at mine and it's up there.. The pedal contacts the sensor which sends information to ECM for Throttle.. So that would be my first repair.. Get another sensor and put it in there.. Are you still under factory warranty? If so have ford fix it.. If not then for sure by the part
Glad to help bud, Keep us posted!
(EDIT)
Here's a somewhat idea of what to look for.. Its not off a PSD but its the same concept for Ford's Throttle by Wire..
Thanks, man!! I saw that sensor there but didn't know if it was the cause!! I'll shop around for the part but not sure if any dealer parts are open on Sundays!1 No, my truck is out of warranty by 1000 miles!! Thanks for the info!! This should fix!!??
Most dealers have an allowance for "Goodwill" warranty repairs. This is to handle instances where a customer is just outside of the warranty. If you are a regular customer of this dealer, they have an incentive to cover you on this.
I find that hard to believe you will have to change the whole assembly for the sensor. I would put this question in the 7.3 forum. They know our truck well. Good luck.
