Hey guys, My truck has sprung its first ever oil leak. Running down the right side and back of the oil pan with a spot of oil on the drive about 3" in diameter.
Here's the story. My up pipe donuts are bad...exhaust leak. Picked up the new donuts....can't afford the bellows pipes. Ordered the "O" rings for the turbo and pedestal....should be here Monday. In the mean time I installed the CCV mod .....exits at the diff. Then installed the 6637 mod on Thursday. Drove the truck arround Friday and Saturday...Parked in the drive and this evening saw the oil. Looked under the truck and oil pan is pretty oily. I have not looked in the engine valley yet...too dark. I'll do that tomorrow AM. I'm hoping it is just one of the "O" rings that has gone bad on the turbo or pedestal.....Is there any where else I should look? No resitriction on the CCV mod....I have vapors exiting the hose while the engine is running. Truck: Early 99 7.3 PSD. Thanks for your inputs
Jeff
Yes it is most likely the pedestal o-rings that you are going to be right at anyway. You got lucky. If it was me, the o-rings would start leaking a week after i did the donuts.
Thanks Kris....Curiosity got the better of me and I grabbed a flashlight and took a look. The oil leak is coming from where the dipstick connects to the oil pan. The seal showsw leakage. With that said, I find it had to believe that my CCV is not working correctly and pressurizing the engine which would cause a leak?...I looked at the hose and routing of the CCV mod and shows no sign of blockage....Maybe coincidence?
Jeff
I had the same leak two months ago. Turned out to be a leaking o-ring for the brass plug on the back side of the HPOP. Also had a leaky boot (prep CCV mod). Look to see if you have oil puddle up in the valley of the motor in the front just under the fuel bowl.
