Hello everyone i'm new to the site. I got a 91 F250 4x4 a few months ago. It needed a ton of work from sitting but now is a great low mileage truck. The check engine light was on so i jumped the connector and got code 31 and code 63.....so I replaced the EGR and TPS. I reset the computer and the stupid light is still on. code 31 is telling me EGR below voltage abd code 63 TPS below voltage....what the heck does this mean, does anyone know how to fix this????
It might be that you did not reset the computer. The only way I know how to do it without a scanner is to disconnect the neg. battery cable for about 15 minutes.
Just because there's a code for malfunctioning EGR position sensor, doesn't mean that the sensor itself is the source of the problem. Grab a repair manual and follow the steps to troubleshoot the EGR system as a whole to track down the real source of the problem. It could even be something like a broken vacuum line causing the code.
ok, i left the battery disconnected for over an hour. thats the way i was told 2 reset the comp. i checked all wireing and everything is perfect. i dont see or or feel and vacumm leaks.....it runs and drives fine, just this stupid light is annoying and i gotta get it inspected. you automaticlly fail in nj for a check engine light...
OK, I checked AlldataDIY for my truck (it took me a little while to cross referance the codes mine are three digit). I didn't get very far on the EGR code, but the TPS code came back to say it could be the IAC or the ACT sensors. I don't think this is going to work using data for my 95 on your 91. they should have the same sensors. I suggest you get a subscription to AlldataDIY You can find it at autozone.com it is very helpful troubleshooting etc..
