It's just as i described the PCM relay is burning out. The 12volt input blade on the relay is getting to hot and burning up the contacts in the relay as if there is a short in the system or something but i can't find one anywhere. Sometimes it will last for 5 months sometimes only a few hours. The only thing i have found so far is the socket on the fuse block was spread open a little far so i closed it. But this didn't help. Any one have any other suggestions.
I've seen numerous relays that "burned up" by blowing a hole through the case, have melted, or have otherwise shown failure that included a significant amount of heat. That is why I requested specifcs as to the failure.
I would suspect it's simply a matter of a bad connection in the fusebox for that realy rather than any short circuit on the load side of the relay.
Burnish the contacts on both the relay and the receptacle pins and install the new relay using a liberal amount of dielectric grease on the terminals. The dielectric grease will prevent moisture from accellerating any corrosion that might otherwise take place in the connector.
If the problem re-occurs, you'll have to either replace the fusebox or you will need to find a way to either repair the connectors or to bypass the fuse box.
