i have a 68 f100 .it had a 360 but change it to a 390 stock.i been really researching this and still dont know which one to get.the motor is not in the truck yet.going to get the 2bb rebuilt.just want to be safe for the frist crank.been on the search for the Pertronix still havent found anything that says this will be right for the fe 390 .maybe its my lack of knowledge. been to the Pertronix site and ebay.dont know of any stores in my area that sells Pertronix >i've posted a few other things on here and came out with very good advice .please help me again and tell me the exact one to get will probably go through ebay to get it since i dont have a credit card order one :-staun and THANKS AGAIN
91281 is the part number for the pertronix II. For a slightly warmed over 390 or less I would go with the plain old ignitor. They are both great products.

what does this mean (slightly warmed over 390 or less)? what does this mean( plain old ignitor)?dont mean to sound retarded but i am new with this sort of thing.i have really got interested in my truck and want what is best for it.THANKS AGAIN
By warmed over I mean that it is slightly more powerful than a stock plain jane 390. Pertronix makes two modules. The regular ignitor is about 65 bucks and is a great replacement for points. The ignitor II is made for those turning a lot of RPMs. It has a fancy microcontroller that improves spark. You can read more on the pertronix website which is http://www.pertronix.com
There are many threads on the Pertronix in this forum. I have the ignitor 1 and the Pertronix flamethrower coil. Its a pretty easy replacement for the points and works beautifully. I re-gapped the plugs wider (though I forget now exactly what the gap is) and i couldn't be happier with not having to adjust points.
I got the new coil along with the ignitor because the flamethrower doesn't require the ballast resistor. That allowed me to run 12 volts to the coil and run the ignitor off the coil. If you don't do this, then you have to supply the ignitor with 12v from another switched source. This is explained pretty well in the instructions that come with the kit.
